Much like Komen Tulsa’s Community Grant program, Komen Tulsa has implemented a Small Grant program for the purpose of providing support and funding to local organizations whose mission aligns with wanting to make a positive difference in breast cancer in their community. The Komen Tulsa Affiliate is currently offering grants up to $5,000 to support breast health education projects, start-up breast health service projects, as well as conference and travel scholarships. The funding priorities for the 2016 small grants are:
- Projects focusing on culturally appropriate, targeted, and quantifiable educational outreach that describes the risk factors, screening guidelines, treatment options and healthy lifestyle initiatives for African American, Native American, Hispanic and Caucasian women in counties that include but are not limited to Tulsa, Osage, Rogers and Wagoner.
- Start-up projects that provide direct breast health screening and diagnostic services for the uninsured and medically underserved with more emphasis given but not limited to African American and Native American women.
Small Grants Applications are accepted beginning September 1, 2016 through February 15, 2017. Requests for support of travel scholarships, conferences, or other events must be received at least six weeks prior to the event.
